MOM WITH ISSUES
A Community for Moms Trying Their Best
One Mom. Lots of Issues
Welcome to Mom with Issues, where we dive into the raw, real, and often messy side of motherhood. Each week, I release a new podcast episode that gets into the heart of what it’s really like to be a mom—whether you're battling anxiety, navigating co-parenting, or just trying to find some peace amidst the chaos. No topic is off-limits, because let's face it, motherhood comes with its fair share of struggles.
To help you tackle the week ahead, I also send out a Sunday newsletter called The Sunday Scaries. It’s a quick, bite-sized read filled with what’s inspiring me, what I’m working on, and a few meal ideas to make life a bit easier. And for those moments when you just need to feel understood, my blog offers an honest look at the day-to-day challenges and triumphs of being a mom. It’s like reading a journal that’s been through it all—just like you.
About
Alice Rainey | A Mom with Issues
Mom with Issues was created by Alice Rainey and launched on October 17, 2021, with an episode about Anxiety. This passion project began during the COVID pandemic, driven by Alice's desire to connect with other moms. At just 17 years old, Alice lost both of her parents in a domestic violence incident. By age 25, she found herself in a toxic relationship with an alcoholic who was freshly divorced and had two children. Fourteen years and two kids later, that marriage ended violently after the family relocated to Merida, Mexico. Determined not to repeat her mother's mistakes, Alice returned to Chicago for the first time since leaving at 21.
Restarting her life reignited her passion and fueled a new mission: to connect with and support other moms who were experiencing the trauma she had just escaped. With a renewed sense of purpose, she relaunched the podcast with a fresh direction. Season 2 kicked off with a powerful episode featuring a gut-wrenching story of survival and narcissistic abuse shared by Lee. Seeking even more ways to connect with the growing community of moms with issues, Alice expanded her platform with the launch of the Mom with Issues blog and newsletter
